Safe Air wins Qantas Engineering approval

Safe Air is now a Qantas Engineering approved repair agency.

A Qantas assessment team recently audited Safe Air’s facilities and capabilities and awarded the approved agency status.

This latest award adds to Safe Air’s long list of approvals, confirming Safe Air’s status as one of the region’s premiere aviation maintenance organisations.

“We are pleased to accept this approval and we look forward to developing our relationship with Qantas in the future,” says Safe Air general manager Heather Deacon. “Qantas is an acknowledged leader in commercial aviation and we look forward to helping Qantas Engineering support its airline through technical excellence.”

Safe Air has a substantial Australian customer base for its specialist aircraft component repair and overhaul services. In particular Safe Air is one of Australia’s largest suppliers of specialist aerospace electroplating services including low hydrogen embrittlement cadmium, electroless nickel and chrome plating. Other specialist services include machining, grinding, NDT, heat treatment, shot-peening, wire harness manufacture, welding and painting.

Beyond its technical ability Safe Air has the quality management processes that airlines, military aircraft operators and MROs demand to deliver the quality assurance they need. Safe Air holds EASA, FAA, NZCAA approvals and is certified ISO9001 and AS9100 compliant.

Safe Air also holds approved maintenance organisation status with the Royal New Zealand Air Force and the Royal Australian Air Force and is the primary heavy maintenance provider to the RNZAF.

The scope of its operations includes airframe, propeller, engine and component maintenance, repair and overhaul. Safe Air operates the aircraft maintenance facilities at Blenheim Airport, formerly the Royal New Zealand Air Force main aircraft repair depot.
