Safe Air Staff ramp up qualifications

In March 2011, another five Safe Air staff members attained National Diplomas in Aeronautical Maintenance, Level 6

• Graeme Woods in Aeroplane and Power Plant
• Phillip Batchelor in Aeroplane
• Karl Leslie in Aeroplane and Power Plant
• Paul Read in Aeroplane and Power Plant
• John Burnett in Aeroplane and Power Plant

As part of its quality and safety programme Safe Air works closely with the Aviation Travel and Tourism Industry Training Organisation to ensure that staff are not only fully competent in their tasks but that their training is fully compliant with recognised national and industry standards and that their skills are recognised with appropriate qualifications.

Safe Air staff are currently engaged in working towards national certificates or diplomas in all of the ATTO’s aeronautical engineering disciplines.

Safe Air holds EASA, FAA, NZCAA approvals and is certified ISO9001 and AS9100 compliant.

Safe Air also holds approved maintenance organisation status with the Royal New Zealand Air Force and the Royal Australian Air Force and is the primary heavy maintenance provider to the RNZAF.

The scope of its operations includes airframe, propeller, engine and component maintenance, repair and overhaul. Safe Air operates the aircraft maintenance facilities at Blenheim Airport, formerly the Royal New Zealand Air Force main aircraft repair depot.
