Safe Air Achieves AS9100

Safe Air reinforced its core value of “excellence in aviation”, when it recently achieved AS9100 certification.

According to Safe Air’s General Manager, Jeremy Remacha, “this international quality standard for suppliers of products and services to the aviation industry simply builds on our long list of manufacturing achievements”. “Most notable being the manufacture of components for the Australian and New Zealand Seasprite helicopters, and more recently key elements of Air New Zealand’s Business Class Cabin upgrades”.

“This achievement signals to the global aviation industry, that Safe Air is a legitimate source for aeronautical manufacturing. In addition, our lower (than US or Europe) labour rates, highly skilled engineers and wide supplier base make us a genuinely attractive option,” says Mr Remacha.

Safe Air’s aeronautical production capability is all based at the one site in Blenheim, New Zealand. It includes total project management, fabrication, electroplating, assembly, composite materials, material procurement, wire harness manufacture and finishing. According to Mr Remacha, “Safe Air aims to become one of Australasia’s leading local suppliers to the aeronautical industry, offering a single point solution that will manage any third party specialist suppliers on behalf of our customers.”

Safe Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air New Zealand, is the primary provider of heavy maintenance to the Royal New Zealand Air Force and is a Royal Australian Air Force Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO). Safe Air meets Commonwealth of Australia procurement requirements under Australian Industry Involvement (AII). For more information on Safe Air visit www.safeair.co.nz.
