Safe Air achieves Approved Maintenance Organisation Status with Argentina Defence Force
Safe Air is now an approved maintenance organisation for the Argentine Defence Force. Following a detailed inspection and audit process, the Argentine Defence Force has issued approvals covering the Pratt & Whitney J52 engine, the P3 Orion, the C130, the T56 engine and propeller systems. This means Safe Air can release to service any work it carries out on these aircraft and engines.
This new certification clears the way for Safe Air to commence work on its newest contract, carrying out J52 engine maintenance for the Argentine Air Force.
Safe Air Marketing and Sales Manager Alex Robins says this recent achievement expands Safe Air's long-standing relationship with South American military aircraft. Safe Air and Air New Zealand have supported the Chilean navy's P3 Orion fleet for more than 10 years.
Alex believes demand for Safe Air’s core expertise in P3 Orion’s and C130 could grow in this market over the next five years. "The South Americans are receptive to dealing with New Zealand and there are some good natural connections with both Chile and Argentina. We have the free trade agreement with Chile and in Argentina we have the rugby connection, and we are all southern hemisphere nations. And certainly the customer representatives who visit New Zealand are captivated by the landscape, the people and our lifestyle."
Safe Air holds EASA, FAA, NZCAA approvals and is certified ISO9001 and AS9100 compliant.
Safe Air also holds approved maintenance organisation status with the Royal New Zealand Air Force and the Royal Australian Air Force and is the primary heavy maintenance provider to the RNZAF.
The scope of its operations includes airframe, propeller, engine and component maintenance, repair and overhaul. Safe Air operates the aircraft maintenance facilities at Blenheim Airport, formerly the Royal New Zealand Air Force main aircraft repair depot.
